Team Tuesday: Meet Bill!

By: Ashley Martin-Hanlon

Today on Team Tuesday we would love to introduce you to Bill Raymond, Horizons Facilitator! Take it away, Mr. Bill!

What is your name? Robert William Raymond

What is your position? Facilitator, Horizons Program

What do you do at Easter Seals? I act as a facilitator for the Horizons program preparing young adults for entry into the work force.

How long have you been with Easter Seals? I have been with Easter Seals at least 16 years

What is the best thing you have learned during your time here? I learned that I enjoy working with young adults who face challenges and barriers.

What is your biggest dream for Easter Seals this year? My biggest wish for Easter Seals is to continue providing the excellent programs they provide to their clients and to add new programs

What is one weird fact about you that people might find interesting? I would like my ashes spread over number one tee at Terra Nova Golf Course. (PS: My wife has reminded me that I will be in no position to dictate what becomes of my remains. Like any good woman, she will have the final word.

What is your favourite food? My favourite food would have to be spaghetti and meatballs. Or is it pan fried cod and scruncheons?

Describe your special talent. My special talent would be my ability to talk my way into trouble- Just ask my wife.

When you aren't busy making Easter Seals awesome, what do you do? I tutor Math et al during most of my waking hours. I am also a professional gambler every third Friday night.

If you could be someone else for one day, who would you be and why? I would like to be the astronaut who will be the first man on Mars. This would, in a small way ensure my immortality.

What are you most proud of? I am most proud of my family

If you were a crayon what color would you be? My colour would be emerald green.

If you could have one superpower what would it be? My superpower of choice would be invisibility.

What is your favourite sport? My favourite sport is golfing.

Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? I never, ever, no never untie my shoes before I take them off. Does anyone? For the longest time when I was carrying around another person (I was truly overweight) I couldn't see my shoes, let alone bend over to untie them

If you could have dinner with three people who would they be? What would you talk about at the dinner? If I could have dinner with three people, they would be Jesus Christ, Julius Ceasar and Socrates. We would talk of the usual things like the origins of the universe, battles glorious and God and on the lighter side, cabbages and kings and other foolish things.

If you could  change anything in the whole world, what would you change? If I could change anything in the world today it would be the misery caused by disease.

If you had 3 wishes, what would they be? No wishing for more wishes! My three wishes would include an end to war, a cure for all disease, and, for my selfish self, a super lotto max ticket that actually won first prize (Hey, one can dream!)

Thanks, Bill- that was great. To find out more about the Horizons program, contact Paula at or 754-1399 ext 225
