Support CMHA-NL in the 1st Annual “Ride Don’t Hide” event coming up on June 25th.
Ride Don’t Hide is a national cycling event with fun community bike rides hosted by local CMHA branches across Canada. Last year over 6,000 cyclists across 29 communities raised over $1,400,000.00 for local mental health initiatives. This year CMHA-NL will be the first CMHA branch in Atlantic Canada to participate in this worthwhile event and it is anticipated that over 8,000 cyclists will participate this time raising over $1,500,000.00 for local mental health programs. You can be part of the movement sweeping the country!
Ride Don’t Hide is an unprecedented and shining example of CMHA branches across Canada collaborating on such a large scale to raise funds and awareness for mental health. It is anticipated that this movement will continue to grow each year and help to raise funds and awareness about mental health issues throughout our province. There is an inherent need for all of society to maintain good mental fitness just as we focus on our physical fitness. As mentioned, mental illness affects 1 in 5 people and those who suffer often remain marginalized by the perceptions of others. We hope that this event will help dispel the stigma around mental illness.
