Jordan Pomeroy, like most young adults, wanted to find a job so he would be able to gain experience, independence, develop skills, and have money so he is able to do the things he wants without depending on his parents! The only difference is Jordan identifies as having a disability, which has made the entry into the workforce a little more challenging – but not unattainable.
With the assistance of the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities program, Jordan was able to secure employment in his community with Ferryland Foodland as a grocery clerk. The welcoming and supportive environment created by the staff and customers at Ferryland Foodland has made the transition to the workforce easier for Jordan. He is working hard and we are looking forward to hearing all about Jordan’s future successes!
If you are a person who identifies as having a disability and is looking for work, or an employer interested in learning more about how the Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities can help you, please contact Paula (paula@eastersealsnl.ca) or Rachel (rachel@eastersealsnl.ca) by email or phone at (709) 754-1399.
