About the Job:

  • The role of Counsellors in Training (CIT’s) is to assist the camp team with the preparation of programs including games, crafts, and field trips, and setting up the facility and equipment.
  • CIT’s will assist in the supervision of all participants and will be actively involved in the program.
  • CIT’s must provide appropriate role-modeling to participants at all times and follow organization policy and procedures. 
  • CIT’s may be asked to assist counsellors if comfortable with personal care, feeding, and dressing as needed with participants as well as in the delivery of adapted programs.

Training will be provided in disability awareness, adapted inclusive programming, best practices of lifting and transfers, feeding and speech techniques, personal care and hygiene, epilepsy awareness, behavior management, and team building.

The day camp is delivered from the Easter Seals NL Centre located at 206 Mt. Scio Road. Campers enjoy a wide variety of activities such as archery, wheelchair basketball, canoeing, physical activity, field trips, wall climbing, and more.

Candidates:

  • Must attend pre-Camp training (June 20th, 21st, 23rd, and 29th);
  • Must provide RNC Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check;
  • Are required to have training in Standard First Aid and CPR C;
  • And must be able to participant and assist in programs independently, actively engage with participants, and participate in scheduled activities

**Please note, there are limited Counsellor in Training positions this summer. CIT positions are open to participants registered with Easter Seals NL between the ages of 16 – 25.
