‘I Can Too’ wraps up for the school year

With the 2021-22 school year coming to an end, Easter Seals NL’s ‘I Can Too!’ disability education program would like to thank all of the students, teachers, and administrators that welcomed us, either in person or virtually, into their school communities. With 150 presentations to over 4600 students from St. John’s to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, we are thrilled that we had the opportunity to spread the ‘I Can Too!’ message of inclusion and understanding to so many people and to have a lot of fun along the way! We hope everyone has a wonderful summer break and we look forward to an even better year ‘I Can Too!’ in 2022-23.

This is a disability awareness program that allows children, from kindergarten to grade six, to learn about disability in a fun, interactive way! Through the use of a video, books, and a collection of dolls with adaptive equipment, children learn that disability does not equal inability and that people with a disability are the same as everyone else, they may just do things a little differently.

This presentation is free and is available to schools, scouting, and guiding groups, after-school programs, and community groups. We advise allowing for 40 minutes for the presentation.

To learn more about the ‘I Can Too’ program or to book a presentation, please contact our Opportunities Fund and ‘I Can Too!’ Disability Education Coordinator, Rachel Warren, at rachel@eastersealsnl.ca.
