Sledge Hockey

Take to the Ice

Sledge Hockey is played by people with disabilities using ice sleds and two shortened sticks with an ice pick on the stick’s end. Players propel themselves across the ice using the sticks, while also stick handling.

Easter Seals NL runs a weekly Sledge Hockey Program on Saturday afternoons for players of all abilities and skill levels, located at the Town of Paradise Double Ice Surface from November to April. Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers assist athletes in developing their skills.

Easter Seals NL loans equipment for the season including sleds, sticks, and jerseys.

Easter Seals NL’s Sledge Hockey Program provides an opportunity for our participants to grow up playing a dynamic Canadian sport.

Final date of current session:

April 4th, 2024

Programs that change lives.

  • Making a Difference for Over 80 Years

Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador is a charitable organization that has operated in NL since 1937; it is dedicated to maximizing the abilities and enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.

  • Stories of Success

“When my son was younger he and his friends used to play all the time. As his friends grew up they started to play stand-up sports and he began to feel left out. This all changed when he found Easter Seals. Here he feels included with life-long friends. I can’t describe the pride I feel when I see him laughing at wheelchair basketball.”
