Claire McCarthy

2020-21 ESNL Ambassador

Persons with disabilities in Newfoundland and Labrador have a new advocate and role model: 14 year-old St. John’s resident Claire McCarthy. Claire was installed as the Ambassador for 2020 at a ceremony at Government House in February.

Claire participates in sledge hockey, air rifle shooting, and swimming programs at Easter Seals NL. Outside of Easter Seals NL programs Claire enjoys reading, playing sports, and spending time with her friends and family. In school her favourite subjects are Science and Math. Claire is also involved with her school’s leadership program and badminton club. After high school she plans to attend university to study business.

Empowering Each Other

Helping Claire Help Others

Easter Seals NL has shown Claire that she can have fun and play sports just like her friends. She also enjoys volunteering with the “I Can Too” program because she gets to show more people that having a disability doesn’t define you.
