Horizons Work Experience Program

Providing Personal & Professional Development

Horizons is a work experience program for youth who encounter barriers to employment. Participants complete three weeks of skills training and certifications, followed by weekly classes and workshops held one day per week for the remaining 32 weeks of the program. During training and classes, participants receive a stipend equivalent to minimum wage.

The goal of Horizons is to help young adults find meaningful employment. Horizons staff guide participants to find a work placement and offer support all along the way.

Eligibility requirements for participants:

  •  between 15 and 30 years of age
  • in need of assistance to overcome barriers to employment
  • not in school
  • a Canadian citizen
  • legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations
  • not in receipt of EI benefits

Priority is given to participants who self-identify as having a disability.
