During our Let’s Get Active program children will explore their balance, motor skills and flexibility using hula hoops, parachute games, balls, bean bags and more. During this program, we will introduce children to basic skills used in para sports such as wheelchair basketball, boccia and baseball. This program is focused on developing fundamental movement skills and physical literacy.Volunteers will assist participants in reaching their physical activity goals in a fun, exciting, and rewarding way by engaging them in challenging games and activities. Some goals may be “I want to use my walker or wheelchair better”, “I want to run faster”, or “I wish to throw further.”With a large interest in this program we dived into smaller groups based on skills and goals the participants share. Groups focus on fundamental movements, skill development, socialization, and independent as well as cooperative play.
Our goal is to provide persons of all ages with physical, cognitive, and any other disabilities with the opportunity to participate in programs and services that aim to build inclusion in Newfoundland and Labrador.LEARN MORE
