Swimming

Something For All Skill Levels

The Easter Seals NL Swimming Program provides participants with a 30-minute one-on-one volunteer-led swimming session each week that focuses on the individual goals of the participant. These goals can vary anywhere from learning to put your face in the water, and building strength in your legs, to practicing swimming in the deep end. The sessions are not meant to be a structured swimming lesson but rather focus on individual swimming goals.

Our volunteers work closely with participants to make sure they are having fun while reaching these swimming goals. Volunteers as a part of this program are not certified instructors, however, they are confident swimmers and share the love of water with our participants.

Volunteers and participants are paired based on the goals set by the swimmer, and the strength of our volunteers.

Our swimming program is delivered weekly on Mondays, this program is broken down into semesters running Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer in 8-12 weeks blocks.

Programs that change lives.

  • Making a Difference for Over 80 Years

Easter Seals Newfoundland and Labrador is a charitable organization that has operated in NL since 1937; it is dedicated to maximizing the abilities and enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.

  • Stories of Success

“When my son was younger he and his friends used to play all the time. As his friends grew up they started to play stand-up sports and he began to feel left out. This all changed when he found Easter Seals. Here he feels included with life-long friends. I can’t describe the pride I feel when I see him laughing at wheelchair basketball.”
