Easter Seals NL offers an equipment loan program to families and participants looking to utilize equipment to participate in outdoor recreational activities. Recently, the Hippocampe was loaned out to Margie, and here is what she and her family had to say about the all-terrain wheelchair:
Equipment such as Trailriders, Hippocampe, Kicksled, Ice Sledges, and Snowcoach, along with others, are available free of charge as a short-term loan for any of our ESNL families and participants. Our Hippocampe can be used with both wheels and skis, making it a great option for any type of adventure!
During current restrictions, ESNL is able to facilitate equipment loans through contactless pickup and drop-off with electronic signout. The equipment loan program allows families and participants to access unique adaptive equipment while avoiding financial strain.

“Margie has had a blast in it and loved that we could easily move her about in it, which is easier than driving her wheelchair when her hands and body are tired. She has missed out on walks with her grandchildren because the wheelchair can't go where they like to walk, but we took her a few times over the weekend and earlier in the week and she loves it. The hippocampe is a great idea for off-road trails and paths that I can't take with my wheelchair. I would rent it again for sure. It is great to use to go around the paths and trails around my house because I could use my lift to get in and out. The lightweight of it is a great advantage as it is not bulky or heavy like some wheelchairs. The wheels are great too. Thank you for allowing me to use it, and I look forward to borrowing it again in the near future.”
