Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities Supports Skill Development!

Joanne has been involved with Easter Seals NL’s Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities program since 2018. Through the wage subsidy program, she was able to obtain and maintain employment with the Marystown Heritage Museum in a research and administrative role. With the announcement of career support funding available through the Opportunities Fund, Joanne reached out as she had an opportunity to obtain training to become a certified museum curator however she did not have a computer to complete the course at home. Easter Seals NL was able to purchase a computer to assist Joanne take the next step in her career! "Thank you so much! This will enable me to do online courses for museum curators and beyond. Your organization has been so good to me. You would be amazed at the change in my life from where I was to where I am now because of the opportunities you have provided me. I can’t wait to start working towards an even brighter future!"   Jane and her family also sent us a note to thank our Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities staff for the assistance in purchasing a new laptop! She will be using it to continue building life skills that will help her prepare to one day enter the job market! We are so happy we were able to help Joanne and Jane and cannot wait to see them continue to succeed!
